    1497647 Washing textile webs E KUSTERS 27 May 1976 [31 May 1975] 21953/76 Heading D1L Textile web 2 is washed in loose transverse folds and simultaneously kneaded by passage through channel 40 defined between a web supporting base 6 and a permeable oscillatory member 9, the channel being disposed below the level 8 of the wash liq. and member 9 being freely suspended on a rotatable eccentric shaft 13 by struts 11. As shown in Fig. 2 the base is non-permeable and forms a trough 7 of liq. with a part-circular cross-section. In an alternative arrangement [Fig. 3 (not shown)] the base is permeable and the trough is defined by a curved floor 25. In this alternative the web is conveyed over the base (6') by an endless permeable belt (26). The web may be wetted prior to entry into the channel 40 by sprays 24. In Fig. 2 web entry is aided by a pair of grooved rollers 17, 18 and a cage formed by a series of rods 31 extending longitudinally into the grooves from channel entrance 19. The permeable elements may be formed by parallel rods.
